Temperatures are set to hit highs of 19C later this week as the country enjoys one of the first bright spells of the year.
Met Éireann says Friday will see some of the warmest weather this week, with "very mild or warm and humid" conditions expected and temperatures of 14C to 19C.
The forecaster has reported that this is due to a high-pressure system settling conditions and giving way to “plenty of sunshine”.
Wednesday will continue this trend, with the weather expected to be dry and mostly sunny for the day. Temperatures will hit highs of 18C. It will be dry tonight and mostly clear, but it will turn chilly with temperatures falling to lows of 1C to 6C.
Thursday will see mainly dry and sunny weather with a "freshening easterly wind". Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 19C. However, Munster and south Leinster will experience showers in the afternoon and evening.
Apart from that showery rain, Met Éireann is projecting the high pressure system "will bring a continuation of the fine and settled weather".
After "some residual showery rain" in the morning, Friday will "become dry with hazy sunshine into the afternoon". It will be "very mild or warm and humid with highest temperatures of 14C to 19C", possibly a little higher locally, all the while warmest further west.
Heading into the weekend, temperatures will fall back a little with some cold and clear nights, according to Met Éireann.
"However, it will be dry, sunny and very pleasant by day with no more than moderate easterly winds."
