Man in his 50s dies in single-vehicle crash in Co Mayo

A man in his 50s has died following a crash in Co Mayo.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle crash, which happened on the R323 Knock Road, at Bracklaghboy in Ballyhaunis, at around 10.10pm last night.

The man, the sole occupant of the car involved, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was later removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, where an autopsy will take place in due course.

The road is closed for a technical examination by Gardaí, and local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.

Any road users with a camera who were travelling in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. have been asked to provide it to authorities.
