Clonakilty remain on top of Division 1 of the McCarthy Insurance Cork Football League thanks to their impressive scoring difference after they made it three wins from three with an away win against St Michael’s on Sunday morning.

A devastating first half got the job done for Clon, as they led by 2-11 to 0-4 at the change of ends. 1-4 from Conor Daly, 1-2 from Luke Griffin and two two-pointers from Brian White helped them into the ascendancy.

St Michael's however, fought back after the break. Luke O'Herlihy kicked 0-6, Liam O’Sullivan 0-3 and Billy Cain also raised a white flag but late points from the returning Liam O’Donovan and Daly helped Clon to a 2-16 to 0-17 win.

Old friends St Finbarr’s and Nemo Rangers clashed in Trabeg on Thursday night with both sides entering the tie with a perfect record. As ever, there wasn’t much between the two southside behemoths but, in the end, it was the Barrs who maintained their 100% record, as 0-10 from Cillian Myers Murray helped them to a 0-14 to 0-12 victory.

Myers Murray made full use of the new rules as 0-6 of his tally came from two-pointers, while Eoin McGreevey also helped himself to 0-3. Conor Horgan was the main marksman for Nemo, kicking 0-6 while Paul Kerrigan shot 0-3 from the bench for the home team.

Mark Buckley led the way with 1-6, Fionn Herlihy had a goal, a two-pointer and a point, Keith White clipped 1-1 while Barry O’Donovan, Aaron Mannix and Paudie Crowley also raised green flags.

Carbery Rangers made it three wins from three with a dramatic late win away to Ballincollig on Thursday. Dara Dorgan had been on song in kicking 1-5 while Evan Cooke and Cian Dorgan had both made their mark too. 0-2 from John O’Rourke and Paul Hodnett had kept Rangers in touch, but their saviour on the evening was their goalkeeper, Paul Shanahan. He kicked 0-5 from placed balls, including the clinching two-pointer that won the game for the West Cork side.
