Man accused of having cannabis worth €55,000 for sale in Cork

The man is accused of possessing cannabis in the Glasheen area of Cork.

A man accused of having €55,000 worth of cannabis for sale or supply in the Glasheen area of Cork last August appeared at Cork District Court today.

Sergeant Gearóid Davis said the Director of Public Prosecutions had given directions in the case. The DPP stated that it could be dealt with by indictment at the circuit court or he could enter a plea of guilty at the district court and be sent forward to the higher court for sentencing.

Defence solicitor Eddie Burke asked for the case to be adjourned until April 16 for consideration of whether or not a guilty plea would be entered in the case.

The accused man is Constantin Vardoshvili, aged 23, of An Radharc Lower, Maryborough Ridge, Cork.

He is charged with possession of cannabis, having the drug for sale or supply and a similar sale or supply charge specifying drugs with a street value in excess of €13,000. That is the threshold figure for a minimum ten-year sentence unless the judge finds that there are exceptional circumstances.

All three charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act relate to August 21, 2024 at Westwood, Wycherley Place, Glasheen, Cork.

No facts in relation to the alleged incident were outlined during the brief court hearing.
