The fashion experts at Opera Lane have shared some insight into the trends we’ll be seeing this season and how to incorporate them into our wardrobes, including blending them with trends from past seasons.
Speaking at an event at the River Lee Hotel this morning, stylist Natasha Crowley and personal shopper Breeda O’Connell brought us through four major trends and how to add pieces from each into your capsule wardrobe.
Breeda emphasised that each trend can be experimented with to find a style that suits you.
“You can make any of these trends anything you want, as long as it works for you, your body shape, your wardrobe, and your way of life,” she says.
This season we’re all channelling our inner Sienna Miller with some “really frothy, flowy pieces,” Natasha says.
She references Chloe’s runway looks being filled with boho styles and adds elements can be added to an existing wardrobe through embroidery on some items or with accessories.
“Woven is a big undertone in the boho trend,” Breeda adds, describing it as “a grown-up, more polished version of the first time around”.
Pale colours are back and feel particularly springy, though again small elements can be added if a full-on pastel look sounds daunting.
“Pastels might not be for everyone but they’re such an easy thing to add to your wardrobe,” Natasha says.
She says pastel can go well with pieces from previous seasons, particularly with the big colour for 2025, Mocha Mousse.
“If you’re someone who really invested in the browns in autumn/winter, you could easily transition through by adding a little bit of pastel with it,” she adds.
And speaking of those winter browns, Breeda notes leopard print is here to stayy for spring.
“Leopard print is an unusual print for this time of year,” she says.
“Spring always has a great denim story,” Natasha says as she shows a range of denims on offer this season, including co-ords.
“Love it or loathe it, the Canadian tuxedo is huge,” she says, adding you can break up a head-to-toe denim look by adding a neck scarf or a belt.
She notes that indigo denim is a strong look too and is “almost a workwear kind of denim”.
Tailored silhouettes are back in vogue and it’s not just for the office.
“We’re seeing it day-to-day, it’s not longer just workwear,” Natasha says. “It’s a lot more relaxed, that with a pair of trainers would be fab.”
She points to relaxed fabrics like linen allowing for more versatile looks as co-ords can be mixed and matched.
