A Cork City pub has been granted permission to upgrade its outdoor seating area.

The owner of the Roundy House on Castle Street applied to Cork City Council in January this year for a new canopy to the façade of the existing building and the removal of existing fixed umbrellas.

Permission was also sought for the retention of the existing canopy and fixed heaters to the façade of the existing building.

Meanwhile, Biotechnology giant Boston Scientific will see its site on Model Farm Road upgraded as part of new works approved by Cork City Council.

The company sought planning for a single-storey extension comprising a link corridor and two storerooms to its existing production area conservatory and the partial demolition of an existing façade to provide a double door to the same existing conservatory.

The development is within the curtilage of a protected structure called the 'Former Munster Institute,' with the development also including associated site works.
