Wish List: Supermodel sofas and seven other home design ideas

She has homes in Manhattan and Upstate New York and on the Danish coast so it’s fair to say Helena Christensen is no stranger to interior design.

But the supermodel and photographer’s approach is unique. "I’ve been a nomad my whole adult life so I’ve learned that home is where you create your own sense of beauty and comfort,’ says Helena who has been appointed BoConcept’s new global artistic director.

Her curated collection is available at Sandyford, Dublin, and online. The Scandi-inspired sofas look especially inviting. "The cubic shape of the Carmo sofa is just so chic. And it almost feels like a blank canvas for you to add your own stamp on it," she says.

"I’m in love with the Bellagio sofa in my summer house — it’s like sitting on a cloud. The Bergamo is the ultimate sofa — I just love to curl up in it."

Teal tones

Colourtrend’s motto is to ‘invite the colours of Ireland into your home’. So the

notion of using green as a getaway is the idea behind Keem Bay. Transport yourself with a hint of teal to the serene shores of Achill Island with this luxurious deep tone — both the revitalising shade and name aim to recreate the awe-inspiring scenery of the West. This hue offers a backdrop that pairs beautifully with soft

textiles, warm wooden furniture, and a minimalistic décor.

Irish-owned paint company Colourtrend’s range is available in any of the Cove & Co Paint Studios or stockists nationwide.

Pot of green

You might not have been headed to the White House to make a presidential presentation in recent days, but you can still treat yourself to a bowl of green — pick up a skillet pot of shamrock for €6.99 at Woodie’s; see Woodies.

Take a seat

Inspired by rising Pinterest searches using the words "cosy cottage bedroom", the Penneys spring homeware drop features — yes, you’ve guessed correctly — the theme Cosy Cottage.

The Meadow cushion in green, €8, is a comfy fit for pockets and posteriors alike.

Kitchen magic

Green is trending this year as a kitchen colour choice. Take a look at the ‘Senso’ kitchen — its cabinets come in an olive tone with walnut worktop and have anti-fingerprint coating (so no one will ever prove who scoffed that last biscuit); from €9,000 including appliances.

Calming cuppa

What’s not to like about the disco dazzle of a colour-changing kettle? But this all-singing, all-dancing brew-maker from Russell Hobbs aims to inspire tranquillity also. The Calm Kettle, €129.99, blends AI-enhanced design and functionality.

Internal illuminations transition through a spectrum of colours during boiling, culminating in a soft white glow during the keep-warm cycle — ensuring water stays hot for up to 40 minutes.

That’s long enough to walk the pup or to make a phone call to a friend — ample time to get most of us into the zen zone. But wait, its makers also promise "soothing sounds played at the touch of a button" will enhance the chill-out factor.

Plant power

Biophilic design is here to stay — an approach that integrates natural elements into interiors — and embracing it through the inclusion of plants is a great starting point. Lavish yours with TLC with this glam plant mister from Søstrene Grene, €4.84. See Sostrenegrene.

Order in the house

We’re suckers in my place for a bowl that migrates from the kitchen to the coffee table. Ideal for rehoming odds and ends, it makes us feel as if we’re putting our version of order on chaos. And hey presto, when eyeing up Jysk’s Nordic Mood collection, this green-patterned vision appears before us — aptly named the Odd bowl. It’s €16.50; see Jysk.
