Cyclist, 60s, seriouly injured in crash on N17 in Mayo

A cyclist was seriously injured following a crash on the N17 in Mayo on Friday.

Gardaí are asking for witnesses to come forward in relation to the incident which left a man in his 60s with life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred at 12.20pm on the road between the airport and Charlestown.

A technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and a stop/go system is in place on the road.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses and in a statement said: "Any road users who were on the N17 between the airport and Charlestown between 11.45am and 12.20pm and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Swinford Garda Station on 09492 52990, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station".

Meanwhile, gardaí are also appealing for witnesses to another crash that happened on the N17 between Tuam and Milltown. 

A woman was airlifted to hospital following a three-car crash in Co Galway on Friday morning.
