Gaming headsets are evolving fast, and the OXS Storm G2 offers a premium experience at an affordable price. With a 50mm dynamic driver, 7.1 virtual surround sound, ultra-low latency wireless connectivity, versatile functionality, and all-day comfort, the Storm G2 is a tempting proposition for those who don’t mind spending a little more on a decent headset but who don’t want to pay a premium for a better-known brand.

The Storm G2 has a game-centric design that looks great. Available in both black and a newly released white version, it sports a clean, minimalist aesthetic that should appeal to most gamers. While it doesn’t have the premium feel of high-end competitors like SteelSeries or Razer, the build quality is solid for the price.
The ear cups are well-padded with memory foam and wrapped in soft protein leather, ensuring comfort even during long gaming sessions. The headband is adjustable by up to five centimetres, making it suitable for different head sizes, and the ear cups swivel slightly, which helps with fit and pressure distribution.
One minor downside is the plastic construction, which, while lightweight, doesn’t feel as durable as more premium options. However, at this price point, material quality compromises are expected. It also comes with a soft velvet drawstring bag, which is great for keeping all the cables and accessories safe. The box includes a USB-A to USB-C charging cable and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX cable, though the latter is relatively short at just one metre.

Audio performance is where the Storm G2 shines. The 50mm full-range dynamic drivers produce a well-balanced sound profile with decent clarity across highs, mids, and lows. While the bass isn’t as punchy as some higher-end gaming headsets, it still adds depth to explosions and gunfire in FPS games.
The 7.1 virtual surround sound is only available when using the wired connection. While virtual surround doesn’t quite match proper multi-driver setups, it enhances positional audio, making it easier to pinpoint enemy movements in competitive games.
The headset offers multiple EQ presets for music and general media consumption, including Game, Music, and Surround modes. The ability to tweak settings helps tailor the experience to different activities.

The 2.4GHz wireless dongle ensures ultra-low latency of under 20 milliseconds, meaning there’s no noticeable lag between on-screen action and what you hear. This is crucial for competitive gaming, where audio delay can make or break reaction times. What’s interesting about the dongle is that it works straight out of the box without the need for any software installation. I tested it on a USB-C-only MacBook Pro, Android phones, Ste and my gaming PC via the USB-A port, and it performed flawlessly on both. I also appreciate the thoughtful design of the USB-C section, which features chamfered edges and a low-profile build, reducing the chances of it catching on things.
The headset also supports Bluetooth 5.3, which is great for switching between gaming and mobile use. However, Bluetooth mode doesn’t support 7.1 surround sound, so for the best gaming or movie-watching experiences, the 2.4GHz dongle or wired connection is preferable.
Battery life is another strong point. OXS claims all-day battery life, and in testing, the Storm G2 easily lasted over 20 hours on a single charge. A quick 15-minute charge provides several hours of use.

The detachable omnidirectional microphone captures clear voice audio, making it ideal for team communication in multiplayer games. While it doesn’t match the quality of standalone USB mics, it’s more than sufficient for gaming and voice chats. The headset also features a built-in mic for everyday calls on the go, and both microphones are equipped with advanced ENC noise cancellation for enhanced clarity.
The Storm G2 has various connectivity options, making it versatile for different devices. The 2.4GHz wireless dongle, which supports Type-A and Type-C connections, provides low-latency performance for PC and console gaming. Bluetooth 5.3 allows mobile devices and tablets to connect, while the 3.5mm AUX cable ensures compatibility with older devices or those without wireless support.
This level of flexibility makes the headset an appealing option for gamers who use multiple platforms, from consoles and PCs to smartphones and tablets.
The headphones also have RGB lighting, which adds to the gamer aesthetic but may not appeal to everyone. Fortunately, if you don’t like flashy lights, you can turn them off by double-taping the EQ mode button. Unfortunately, the headphones don't default to the last lighting state; the lights turn on every time you power on.
The OXS Storm G2 has a lot of features, including solid sound quality, low-latency wireless performance, and good comfort. The 7.1 virtual surround sound enhances game immersion, and the multiple connection options make it highly versatile.
While it may not surpass high-end models, it delivers an experience that is more than satisfying for casual and competitive gamers alike.
