As the number of commercial vehicles registered on Irish roads grows, transport companies are facing increased cost pressures from rising fuel prices, labour shortages, and vehicle maintenance.

Limerick-based fleet management company Tranzaura aims to solve this issue. Founded almost 15 years ago in 2010, the firm brings real-time information to transport companies, to reduce costs, keep track of compliance obligations, and manage vehicles.

“Tranzaura started as a compliance software, but over time, we broadened the scope to become a wider-encompassing fleet management company,” said chief executive Shane Mann, who joined the company in 2014.

“Fleet operators today are overwhelmed with technology options, with each collecting a vast amount of data from various sources. It can be very difficult to make sense of it all.

“The problem is made worse by a patchwork of disconnected systems that don’t communicate effectively.”

This is what Tranzaura offers, Mr Mann says, with the company launching what it has called “an industry-first” fleet intelligence software aimed at reducing costs and maximising operational efficiency by up to 30%.

Mr Mann says the company’s FleetNow software offers intelligence in real-time, identifying where fleet managers can make decisions by tracking major expenses such as fuel, maintenance, compliance, and staff.

“This software allows managers to not only look at real-time data but also ask questions.

“For example, with the help of AI, a manager can ask how much it is spending on fuel in a given week, and get an immediate answer without having to wait,” Mr Mann told the Irish Examiner.

Getting this real-time information is crucial to the fleet industry.

“Things change all the time and what happens today could be entirely different to the day before. The issues we saw at Holyhead before Christmas are just one example of this.

“So managers need to have their fingers on the pulse, and our software can deliver the information that they need to know when they need to know it.”

The total number of registered vehicles in Ireland is about 2.8m, around 25% of which are business or fleet vehicles. At any given time, there are at least 100,000 commercial vehicles registered for fleet operations on Irish roads.

The company says its new software will be able to save these fleet professionals up to 80 hours in administration a month, with Tranzaura expecting demand for the software to reach at least 500 global fleets by the end of 2025.

So far, the Limerick-founded company has grown by 20%-25% every year, says its CEO, helped by its growing presence in Ireland, the UK, and Australia.

Currently, 65% of red buses in London use the firm’s existing software, along with 36% of all buses across England. Additional clients include Irish Rail, home retailer Travis Perkins, and packaging giant DS Smith.

Mr Mann says that the release of its newest technology is expected to accelerate the company even further.

“We’re looking to grow this year by about 40%.

“That means 40% growth in sales and equivalent expansion for the company in terms of headcount.”

The CEO says the firm will look to expand into the wider European market, including France and Germany, with the company employing AI to help to translate the software for non-English speakers.

In addition, the company is aiming to add to its current headcount of 22 employees, half of whom work in Limerick, with the other cohort spread remotely across the world.

“We want to grow our headcount by a minimum of 50% this year. We want to have more than 40 employees in the company by this time in 2026,” said Mr Mann.

Looking further into the future, he said: “We want to open up across more markets.

“We want to continue on our growth journey and reach a point where Tranzaura is on the tip of the tongues for those working within the fleet industry.”
