This Cork hotel's woodland escape is the newest five-star luxury destination

The Montenotte Hotel's Woodland Suite Experience was recently awarded a five-star classification by Fáilte Ireland.
The Montenotte Hotel in Cork has announced that its recently launched Woodland Suite Experience has been awarded a prestigious five-star classification by Fáilte Ireland.
Fáilte Ireland’s classification scheme is designed to inform consumers to recognise quality and to differentiate levels of facilities and services, offering information and transparency to the consumer.
Owners of The Montenotte Frankie and Jo Whelehan described the five-star classification as “a proud milestone” in their journey to put Cork firmly on the map as a luxury travel destination.
“We are passionate about providing our guests with a truly unique accommodation experience that challenges the norms and celebrates our stunning landscape,” they said.
With The Woodland Suite Experience, we look forward to welcoming guests to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with nature, their loved ones and themselves.
Curated by owners Frankie and Jo Whelehan, alongside architects Henry J Lyons and interior designer Roisin Lafferty, The Woodland Suite Experience was launched in August 2024.

The Woodland Suite Experience is the first of its kind in Ireland and consists of nine woodland and river suites nestled amongst the greenery on the grounds of the hotel, as well as an exclusive residents-only Clubhouse.
Each suite offers scenic views of the surrounding woodland, Cork city and the River Lee below.
General Manager of The Montenotte, Frits Potgieter, welcomed the recognition, saying: “It’s a testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to providing unmatched guest experiences and continuing our journey to create a truly unique urban resort that transcends the ordinary.
“The Montenotte offers a wonderland of unique experiences, and now with our Woodland and River Suites, we continue to innovate and inspire, serving as the gateway for our guests to discover the best of Cork.”
Beyond the suites themselves, guests have access to the hotel’s Bellevue Spa and Salt Room, dining at Panorama Rooftop Restaurant, cocktails at The Glasshouse, private cinema screenings at the private Cameo Cinema and strolls through the Victorian sunken gardens.
