Bishopstown GAA to see grounds upgraded after successful planning bid

The development was granted planning by the council with nine conditions, including that the GAA club ensures no negative environmental impacts occur as a result of construction works.
Bishopstown GAA Club will see its grounds upgraded after receiving planning permission from Cork City Council for renovations.
The sports club has been granted planning to demolish its existing changing rooms and construct new and improved changing facilities. The development will also see two new stores built, which will be located on the club’s grounds, along with associated site works.
The development was granted planning by the council with nine conditions, including that the GAA club ensures no negative environmental impacts occur as a result of construction works.
Meanwhile, planning has been refused for the construction of 35 homes in Waterford.
Developers Cosmo Developments Newtown Limited were unsuccessful in their application to Waterford City and County Council to construct 35 new dwellings in Tramore.
The proposed developments would have also seen upgrades to the existing pumping station, as well as local roads and footpaths, site landscaping and amenity areas.
Refusing permission, the council said it was not satisfied that it was technically feasible to the satisfaction of Uisce Éireann to connect the development to the public water supply and the public foul sewer.
It also said the proposed development would result in a poor provision of public open space and would thereby constitute a substandard development which would seriously injure the visual and general amenities of the area.
