An Bord Pleanála has approved the construction of 43 new dwellings in Mitchelstown.

Applicants MDR Developments Limited has been granted planning for five four-bedroom detached houses, four four-bedroom semi-detached houses, 26 three-bedroom semi-detached houses four three-bedroom terraced townhouses, and four two-bedroom terraced townhouses.

The development will also comprise a central public area, with two parking spaces for each dwelling, with the site area comprising 2.17 hectares.

Access to the development will be provided via an existing estate entrance and internal road network at the Sliabh Álainn residential development in Brigown, Mitchelstown.

Meanwhile, Gneeves Wind Farm is seeking to continue operating in Millstreet and has applied to Cork County Council for a 15-year planning permission ahead of its expiration in November 2025.

Measuring over 10 hectares, the site currently consists of 11 wind turbines, eight of which have a tip height of 91 metres, with the remaining three at a tip height of 76 metres. All turbines have a rotor diameter of 52 metres.
