Pharma giant Janssen seeking to expand Ringaskiddy manufacturing site

Pharmaceutical giant Janssen has sought permission to expand its manufacturing site in Ringaskiddy.
The company is seeking planning to construct a two-storey extension next to its production building, comprising a floor area of 294 square metres.
Janssen Sciences Ireland said the proposed development will facilitate the installation of new equipment to replace end-of-life appliances.
The proposed development also includes the adjustment to adjacent hard-standing and kerbing, repositioning of Janssen’s existing Liquid Nitrogen Enclosure, provision of drainage and site service connections and associated site works.
Currently, the Janssen facility manufactures cancer therapies and medicines for immune-related diseases. The site has been in operation since 2005 and initially manufactured just two products. Today, it makes five commercial products, employing around 700 people.
Elsewhere, Planning has been sought for the construction of 76 homes in Cobh.
Cork County Council has received an application from Wayleaf Limited to develop 35 three-bedroom semi-detached dwellings, 33 three-bedroom terraced dwelling houses and eight two-bedroom terraced homes in Carrignafoy.
The proposed development is an extension to the existing Inis Álainn residential development.
